WordPress

You may be wondering why when we talk of web design we are actually talking about the WordPress platform.  Well, quite simply it’s because WordPress is the easiest and most versatile way to get your website created.

The term “web design” or “web development” covers a wide range of topics such as platforms (wordpress, joomla, static html) and languages (html, php, asp) as well as CSS (cascading stylesheets).  It’s truly a huge subject that you as a beginner don’t need to fully understand…yet!

Our goal is to get you started quickly and easily so you can, at the very least, have a functioning website online for your customers.  As you become more and more comfortable with being online and you gradually start to understand how everything works, you’ll naturally want to advance into bigger and better things.  Which is why we designed this site the way we did…so you can start simple and grow over time.

WordPress will allow you to create virtually any type of site you can dream of.  A simple information site or a full blown ecommerce store.  You can create a site where customers can sign up (like this one) or you can simply blog to your hearts content.  It’s up to you and what you want out of your online presence.  Now, hopefully, you’ve gone through our Getting Started section and have worked on the steps required to define your site, if you haven’t I would highly recommend you do so before moving onto setting up your WordPress site.

Below we have broken down this process in order:

WordPress Video Tutorials – these will walk you through the entire process of installing and setting up wordpress.  Some of the information in the first few videos you will have learned in the  Getting Started section, but it’s a good idea to watch them anyway.

NOTE: if you took our Video eCourse, you will have already gone through most of this process, but there are many videos we did NOT include so you should go through the list and watch the ones you have not yet seen.

WordPress Advanced – We get into a little more of the specifics here by introducing a list of the MUST HAVE plugins for your site, other plugins that may add more functionality to your site depending on what works for you. Some simple tricks to help in making WordPress function better.  And finally themes and theme structures that you can consider for your own website.

General WordPress Q&A – this is the dynamic part of our site.  As you get started, you are going to have questions or need clarification on certain aspects of WordPress and your own site.  You will find a form on this page to contact us and we in turn will answer your questions in which ever format we feel would help you understand.  Then as the content grows, we will have built up quite a resource library for any and all future members.

So, let’s get started shall we?
